Keep Cool and Protected:

The sun is at its strongest during the summer which means protecting yourself from sunburns or over-heating is highly crucial to safe riding.

  • Use 50+ sunscreen and bring it with you to reapply as you ride
  • Wear a breathable hat or loose scarf under your helmet, preferably one that protects both your face and neck.
  • Wear lightweight clothing that covers your shoulders and is made of sweat wicking material to keep you cool
  • Stick to loose shirts and pants to avoid chaffing
  • Protect your eyes from the sun by wearing sunglasses

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate:

We are sure you are told to drink plenty of water and fluids to stay hydrated, but we are going to remind you again since this is extra important when riding in heat.

  • Plan ahead how much water you will need during your ride
  • The colder the better! Colder water cools your core temperature down.
  • Drink electrolytes after your ride to replenish your body. These can be found in sports drinks, coconut water, and watery fruits such as watermelon.

Plan your Ride:

Knowing the details of where you plan to ride, how long it will take you, and what time of day you will be out in the sun, will keep you safe while having fun!

  • Try to avoid riding during the heat of the day (mid-afternoon) as this is when the sun is at its peak strength!
  • Choose a path with shady patches to ride through or shady places to stop if you start to feel too hot or need a water break.
  • Check the weather before you leave! Depending on where you live, weather can change from sunny to thunderstorms very rapidly.

Bike Tuneups:

After riding in spring showers, making sure your brakes are cleaned, motor is clear of any left over mud and debris, and tires are properly inflated for the hotter surfaces, will ensure smoother and safer summer riding.

With these tips and tricks, you will be ready for any summer adventure on your ebike! We can't wait to see where you ride.
