Summer is approaching, and there’s no better time to evaluate your goals and start thinking about how you want to better yourself and keep moving forward during the warm months ahead. Here are a few ways to be your best self this summer.
Create healthy habits
Over the next few months, slowly start creating healthy habits. First, identify some patterns in your life, write down how you want to change them, and act on them. if you're going to eat healthier, write down that you want to eat two nutritious meals a day. Each week, evaluate where you’re at, and try to add on frequency. Remember to be patient with yourself. According to Healthline, It can take an average of 66 days to create a habit. You’ll get there.
Set realistic goals
If you’re having trouble being realistic with your goals, try setting SMART goals. Meaning your goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely. Break down how each of your goals meets these topics, and get going. Try one of these apps and resources to track your SMART goals.
Leave your comfort zone.
It’s hard to make progress in the comfort zone. So, before we move into a new season, leave your comfort zone and think outside the box. Before summer, use this time to try something new, learn something new, and do things you never thought you would do. Here are a few things you can do to break free.
- Volunteer at a new organization
- Unplug yourself from screens for an entire day
- Start learning a new language
- Cook a new recipe
- Go on a spontaneous weekend trip
- Take a dance lesson
- Try meditation
Treat yourself
While you’re working on becoming your best self, make sure to treat yourself. This can look different for everyone. For example, get an extra 20 minutes of sun in the morning, walk to your favorite coffee shop, go to the farmers market, or buy a new ebike to get you where you need to go.
