- Professor Tim Noakes, of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, explains how mild exercise, such as riding an electric bike, prompts our bodies to release a protein called endogenous pyrogen. This protein increases the body’s temperature, making it more hostile to invading bugs, while also increasing the activity of our white blood cells. These vital cells are responsible for the disposing of harmful viruses.
